Starlings

Since I photographed starlings for the first time in Berlin in 2018, these beautiful birds have continued to haunt me. The dance spectacles, colors and behavior continue to fascinate me. I hope to be able to keep updating this series with some regularity! Watch and enjoy our " birds of paradise" !

In de herfst van 2018 kon ik samen met Young Nature Photographers naar Berlijn gaan. Daar kwamen we veel handtamme spreeuwen tegen. Dit gaf me de kans om deze vogels in detail te observeren, en te realiseren hoe kleurrijk ze zijn. Een beetje zoals een paradijsvogel dus !

In the Autumn of 2018, I went together with Young Nature Photographers to Berlin where we could photograph very tame Starlings. This gave me the opportunity to observe these birds in detail and to realize how colorful they are. Kinda like birds of paradise…

Teamwork

In de winter van 2020 had ik de kans om een aantal keer spreeuwenwolk van dicht bij mee te maken. Werkelijk fascinerend hoe deze tienduizenden vogels schijnbaar moeiteloos samen navigeren. Om roofvogels van de wijs te brengen maar ook om anderen te zeggen waar er goede fourageergebieden te vinden zijn!

In the winter of 2020, I was fortunate to enjoy the spectacle of starling swarms. It is truly fascinating to so see how easily these birds navigate together. They do this to confuse birds of prey or to tell the others where the good foraging areas are situated.
